OOM: Phantom Planet

It's a pissed off female halfa that steps through the Milliways entrance to Amity Park.

Her world is in danger. Her city is in danger (although, technically, she lives in Milliways). Her friends are in danger. Her family is in danger. Danny is being an idiot, and is in danger.

And they think she's going to stay behind in Milliways while all of this is going on?

Obviously, they don't know Dani Phantom too well, do they?

"Don't worry, Danny," Dani says before he can speak. "I'll take it from here.

She takes a deep breath and exhales, then begin.

"There were fourteen clones that Vlad created, total, and while all but the last one were physically imperfect, they were all unstable. Vlad used the rest of us to hunt down Danny and capture him, so that he could use Danny's DNA to stabilize the last clone. That's how Danny and I met."

During the narrative, Dani's fist clenches in anger.

"Vlad- pretended like he was my dad or something, lying to me and saying that he needed Danny to stabilize me. Danny... helped me see what a sleazeball Vlad really was. So the two of us - plus Sam and Tucker - kicked his Armani-suited butt. After that, I set out on my own."

The small girl sitting beside her son looks so lost as she tells her story, it's all Maddie can do not to go over and give her a hug right then and there.

"Just what do you mean by...unstable?" she asked.

Danny looks grim. "Vlad only had DNA samples from me in one form or the other, not mid-morph. He could make clones with both parts, but he couldn't... glue 'em together right. If they used too much power, or got too badly damaged, they collapsed into ectoplasm."

"It wasn't pretty," Dani chimes in grimly.

[passthefudge]

Jack is outraged. "You think you know a guy... Are you all right?" He leans across the table to examine her for signs of melting.

[ami_imperfect]

"I'm fine, don't worry," Dani assures him. "I...made a friend who helped me get stabilized."

She looks over at Enzo and smiles.

"Uh... hi." Enzo waves a hand and smiles, a little sheepishly, at them. "Enzo Matrix."

[notjustcookies]

"Nice to meet you," Maddie replies automatically. "Now...just where did you and Danielle meet?"

[a1enzo]

Enzo looks around and lowers his voice. "You remember Milliways?"

[passthefudge]

"Suuuuure! That crazy place that showed up in our basement! Thought we'd dreamed it until Danny mentioned it later. How did you know we've been there?"

[ami_imperfect]

"We...saw you there," Dani answers. "After I ran away from Vlad I wound up in Milliways. It's...where I've been living."

[passthefudge]

"You what?"

The rest of today's events were just surprising. Now he's shocked.

Maddie is equally aghast.

"That's no place for a girl your age!"

"I said she could come live in my world, but she wanted..."

[amity_npc]

"I was kind of thinking we could..."

[passthefudge]

Jack, as is so often the case, isn't listening at all. "Did you change the sheets in the spare room, Maddie?"

Maddie nods. "I certainly did."

[passthefudge]

"Super! How much stuff do you have?" he asks Dani. "We might need one of those little push-carts."

"Not...a whole lot..."

Dani blinks in surprise.

"You mean...you really...want me?"

[passthefudge]

Jack is genuinely surprised at this.

"Of course! You're our daughter! Genetically."

[notjustcookies]

"It doesn't matter who made you or where you came from," adds Maddie.

Her tone of voice grows stern as she adds, "And no daughter of ours is going to live in a bar."

[amity_npc]

"Well, that was easier than I expected," says Danny to no one in particular.

[passthefudge]

"You can stay in the ops center through the end of summer," Jack tells Dani cheerfully. "Jazz is off to college then, her room'll be free!"

[ilovebearbert]

"Gee, I thought I'd at least get to use it when I came home on weekends or school breaks," Jazz chimes in. But she's smiling.

Danny smirks. "At least they're not renting it out."
