OOM: Moving Day

It's a bittersweet day as, with the help of her new family, Dani moves all of her belongings out of her Milliways apartment and into her new quarters at Fenton Works. Each possession she uncovers and packs away brings back memories, mostly happy but some sad.

And then, of course, are the ones that she's not sure she'll be able to explain to Jack and Maddie...

"Anniversary?!"

It's okay, Enzo, you've got a few seconds to escape before the shock wears off.

[notjustcookies]

"Anniversary?!"

[a1enzo]

So much for breaking it cautiously. Since it's out, though...

Enzo looks defiant. "Yeah. I'm her boyfriend. Have been for a year now."

He turns a sheepish smile on Dani. "Can the pin double as a present for that, too? Things got so buggy, I forgot..."

[ami_imperfect]

"Sure," she agrees (ignoring Jack and Maddie for the moment). "Especially since I didn't get you anything. But, like you said, things got so hectic..."

And don't worry; she totally feels bad about not getting him anything.

[a1enzo]

"Aw, that's okay. We don't celebrate 'em as often, remember?"

[ami_imperfect]

"...okay, good point."

[passthefudge]

"Hold on a minute!"

[a1enzo]

And that would be his cue to cringe.

[ami_imperfect]

Dani flinches as well.

[passthefudge]

Jack eyeballs Enzo, but addresses Dani. "Isn't he a little young for you?"

[ami_imperfect]

"Hey, I'm only two!"

Y'know, if you wanna get technical.

[passthefudge]

Without batting an eye or changing his tone or expression in any way:

"Isn't he a little old for you?"

[a1enzo]

"My world's time goes faster," Enzo declares sullenly. "Anyway, we don't care. I love her!" His tone is more pleading now.

[amity_npc]

Danny starts, and his jaw works silently for a few moments.

[ami_imperfect]

"And I love him!" Dani adds, with a defiant glare in Danny's direction for good measure.

"We've known each other since the first day I came to Milliways. If it hadn't been for Enzo, and his family, I wouldn't even be here right now."

[amity_npc]

Danny finally recovers his voice.

"She's right, Dad. He saved her life."

[a1enzo]

Enzo stares.

[ilovebearbert]

Jazz clears her throat.

"And while she may be about two years old chronologically, physically, mentally and emotionally Dani is about fourteen," she adds.

Dani turns and flashes a grateful smile at Jazz.

[amity_npc]

Danny nods.

"She knows what she's doing. Sort of. I think." He gives Enzo a small glare. "She'd better."

[ami_imperfect]

"Dan-ny..."

[amity_npc]

Danny smiles benignly at her.

"Besides," he adds, "I've been doing the overprotective brother bit for a year and a half. If I haven't scared him off by now, I think we're stuck with him."

[a1enzo]

"Tabbed right," Enzo agrees smugly.

He turns to Jack and Maddie. "Mr. and Mrs. Fenton, please, I want you to like me. But even if you don't, Dani and I are in love and you're not getting rid of me."

[notjustcookies]

"Well..." Maddie turns to look at Jack.

She personally has few qualms about the pair's relationship. While she thinks they may be jumping the gun on the whole "love" thing, it's obvious that they care about each other a great deal.

"...he did help out at the South Pole..."

[passthefudge]

"That's true."

He's a little iffy about his daughter dating a kid who's not even made of the same fundamental particles, but, he supposes, you have to be open-minded about such things these days.

"All right." And then, because he simply can't give in that easily, "But I'm keeping my eye on you."
