OOM: Amity Park Visit Day

Pushing a sweater out of the way, Dani walks through her closet/door to Milliways and into her bedroom. She stops and looks over her shoulder behind her.

"You coming?"

Huh. Enzo steps on, making sure to keep himself and his suitcase within the platform's circumference.

[ami_imperfect]

With a grin Dani calls out, "Two to the ops center!"

At her command a transparent tube descends from the ceiling directly over the two of them - and sucks them up off the platform.

"Whoa!"

Enzo clings to his suitcase and his girlfriend as they shoot upward. The trip is exciting but brief; they come to a halt somewhere cold, dark, and cramped, but a door opens in front of them and they fall forward.

Enzo bursts out laughing. "That. Was. Awesome!"

"Wasn't it?" Dani grins. "Way better than flying."

Enzo looks around—ooooh, mysterious controls—and happens to glance behind him at the cold, no-longer-dark place they emerged from.

"...did we just come out of a refrigerator?"

[ami_imperfect]

"Yup."

[a1enzo]

"I know you know this, but your parents are weird."

[ami_imperfect]

Her response is a shrug. "Come on, I'll show you your room."

[a1enzo]

"Okay."

What does a guest room in an ops center look like?

Surprisingly, it looks like a normal bedroom. The walls are covered with wallpaper that has a faded, almost tacky floral print that looks like it may have been popular back in the 1970s. The carpet, while not shag, is a faded gray that may have been light blue at some point.

The bed is a twin, with a dull yellow comforter, and a couple tacky throw pillows up against the regular ones. There's a desk and chair up against one wall, and the nightstand beside the bed has a vase of fake flowers.

Enzo blinks. He looks back and forth between the bedroom and the main ops center, trying to resolve the cognitive dissonance.

"It's so... um..."

[ami_imperfect]

"Boring? Dull? Bland?" she suggests. "All would be correct."

[a1enzo]

"I could've said 'normal'. You know. If I wanted to be polite."

[ami_imperfect]

Dani looks around the room that she once lived in (for all of three months or so).

"Yeah," she says at last, nodding "I guess that works too."

[a1enzo]

"Yours is definitely better."

Still, if she survived this one, so can he.

[ami_imperfect]

At least he doesn't have to stay in it as long as she did.

"So," Dani decides to change the subject "you ready for public high school tomorrow? It's gonna be way different than the Guardian Academy."

[a1enzo]

"Hey, I went to regular school before that. How different can it be?"

[ami_imperfect]

"No binomes," she answers without missing a beat.

[a1enzo]

"There is that."
