On the outside of the FentonWorks building it looks like business as usual. On the outside.

Inside the building is a different story. The common areas look like they've been cleaned within an inch of their lives. Any ghost-hunting paraphernalia that was left laying around has been put away for the time being; better that it stays out of curious hands. There's a buffet of various snack foods laid out on the island in the kitchen. On the table in the dining room is a sheet cake (chocolate, of course) with the words "Happy 18th Birthday Danielle" written in blue icing on the white frosting. There's another cake for Danny but it's still in the freezer; ice cream cakes do have a tendency to melt if left out too long.

And where's the birthday girl in all of this? Up in her bedroom, anxiously awaiting the arrival of their, *ahem* 'out-of-town' guests.

As the birthday duo descend the stairs properly, with Matrices in tow (or towing), from below comes the obligatory chorus of "Happy birthday!"

This is followed, as the entire party comes into view, by a considerably less obligatory cry of "GHOOOOOST!"

In a flash, Welman Matrix remembered where he was standing and acted quickly to defuse the situation. He shouted back: "Scientist!".

Dani manages - just barely - not to facepalm.

"Relax, Dad. It's just Professor Matrix."

"Oh!" Jack and Maddie lower their weapons (yes, of course there were weapons). "That's okay, then."

"Hiiiii, Welman," Maddie greets him with her usual cheer.

Don't worry, Dani. Danny has the facepalming covered.

Well...that certainly happened. Fortunately, it was over just as quickly as it started.

"Hello, Jack. Maddie. Sorry about the ghost-form, but it was about as good as we could get it, considering I have essentially no data to work with."

You know you're hovering again, right Welman? Because you totally are.

"Oh, that's just fine. Sorry about the, er..."

"Trigger-happiness?"

"We didn't warn them in advance," Enzo allows. "As long as they don't shoot my dad," he adds loudly, "I think we're good."

Or try to use him as a test subject or anything. Seriously.
