On the outside of the FentonWorks building it looks like business as usual. On the outside.
Inside the building is a different story. The common areas look like they've been cleaned within an inch of their lives. Any ghost-hunting paraphernalia that was left laying around has been put away for the time being; better that it stays out of curious hands. There's a buffet of various snack foods laid out on the island in the kitchen. On the table in the dining room is a sheet cake (chocolate, of course) with the words "Happy 18th Birthday Danielle" written in blue icing on the white frosting. There's another cake for Danny but it's still in the freezer; ice cream cakes do have a tendency to melt if left out too long.
And where's the birthday girl in all of this? Up in her bedroom, anxiously awaiting the arrival of their, *ahem* 'out-of-town' guests.

"I, uh." He presses his lips together and tries again. "I got 'em..."
A snicker is stifled. Something appears to be funny.

"What?"

"So what does my brother think is so funny?"
no subject
In reply, Enzo grins and calls, "C'mon, people!"
no subject
Prepare to be hugged!

After hugs, Dani pulls back a little and looks at the pair as if examining them. "You know, there's something different about you two today."

"I can't fly," declares the one in cornrows, jumping a few times and feeling gravity pull her back down. "You can fly."
"She doesn't have to store her form in the digimat," Mairi's uncle reminds her. "Remember what I said about filesize."
Heck, if that weren't a consideration, he'd still be a halfa whenever he visited.

She ruffles Mairi's hair, or ruffles it as much as one can ruffle cornrows. "Tell you what. When the party's over, and if it's okay with your mom and dad, I'll take you up flying with me. Does that sound good?"
no subject
"Me too!" Ana demands.
no subject
Well, she's smiling about hearing it, so maybe Dot is actually planning on okaying the flight of her niece and daughter.
Maybe.
Okay yes, it will make things easier for getting Mairi to bed later.
"Come on Mairi, let me give Aunt Dani a hug too."
no subject
Hopefully they won't ask to go at the same time. Though maybe she can rope Danny into helping out...

"Hi, Dani, Happy Birthday."
no subject
That and Jack probably knows full well that both she and Maddie will be on him if he decides to experiment on -anything- today.
no subject
Oh, he knows Dot. He also knows that once Maddie and Dani get through with them they'll give whatever's left to the girls' families.
no subject
And so long as "what's left" is worn out despite high sugar intakes? He'll be fine with that.
He smiles to himself.
Might even get a decent night's sleep afterwards.
no subject
And now a wisp of fog is escaping from his still-smirking mouth.

"Happy birthday, Dani."
Welman Matrix, everybody. Not compiled, but here in spirit, at least.
no subject
"Grampa!"
—Analog seems to be adjusting just fine.

"You're 'vis'ble again," Mairi declares more loudly.
no subject
A quick refresh of concentration and we're back in the green!
...and precisely one inch off of the ground, but he doesn't notice.

"Looks like everyone's ready, waiting, and hungry."
no subject
"Cake?" she asks with a child's impatience, tugging at Matrix's hand. "Cake?"
no subject
no subject
"You guys coming or what?"
no subject
This is followed, as the entire party comes into view, by a considerably less obligatory cry of "GHOOOOOST!"
no subject
no subject
"Relax, Dad. It's just Professor Matrix."

"Hello, Jack. Maddie. Sorry about the ghost-form, but it was about as good as we could get it, considering I have essentially no data to work with."
You know you're hovering again, right Welman? Because you totally are.

Or try to use him as a test subject or anything. Seriously.

And it doesn't make Analog's day any easier, though, given that she's A: small and B: a child, she's not restricted to getting about in only two-dimensional space.
If you can't go around? Go over.
"Analog!" Matrix calls out as, now fueled by sugar and Natural Kiddie Exuberance, she attempts to scale Mount Whoever Is Closest.
no subject
"Whoa! Um... hey, kid."
"Hi!" says Ana cheerfully on her way up, tiny fists twisted into orange Spandex. "You Aunt Dani's daddy?"
"That's meeeeEEEE watch the hands!"
