The Fenton-Matrix Wedding: Earth Edition

The Earth wedding is held on a small stretch of beach in Chile, the same stretch of beach where ten years ago a sprite and a half-a shared their first kiss. The set-up is semi-formal, but not too casual. Even the ropes cordoning off the area blend in with the decorations, done up in mint green and lavender.

(There may or may not be bazookas hidden in the flower arrangements, in case of potential human or ghostly interference.)

After the ceremony comes the reception, with dancing, a luncheon featuring steak tenderloin, a crab boil, and summer squash lasagna, and swimming.

Guppy and his crowd are there, watching with excitement. The three smaller Sandhus are in little dresses with flowers, and Fry looks smart in his shirt.

Enzo grins. The Sandhu Flower Squad is adorable, even if their flowers are going kind of... everywhere.

Of the three with the flowers, Coral is sprinkling them the most effectively over the aisle. Brooke is sort of dumping them on people in clumps.

Gil starts off sprinkling them over himself, as he's not tall enough to reach anyone else, then turns the basket over and dumps the rest over his head and does a little dance.

Toward the rear, waiting to make her entrance on her father's arm, there may or may not be a bride struggling to keep a straight face at their antics.

Guppy, ready in groomsman position, gives up trying to communicate to the children what they're meant to be doing by gestures. Though he does go back and take Gil's hand when the little boy tries to start building a sandcastle in the middle of the aisle.

Sometime during the reception, one of the gift boxes starts to rattle, then shake. Finally, it bursts open in shreds of wrapping paper.

Take your pictures of the matron of honor while you can, folks, because this is the only time you will see it: Sam Manson in a sundress. She's bearing up well—this is about Dani, not her, after all—but she is very pointedly ignoring how ecstatic her parents are.

A hand lands heavily on the party crasher's shoulder from behind. "Dude."

Although still in human form, Danny lets his eyes light up green. Slipping an arm around the Box Ghost's shoulders, he hands him a cocktail while explaining, in friendly tones, exactly what he will do to him if he spoils his little sister's special day.

The Box Ghost considers this carefully.

"This collection of boxes pleases me," he says as grandly as he can. "It is hereby under the protection of the Box Ghost." He takes a sip of his Bahama Mama and narrowly misses poking himself in the eye with the little umbrella.

"Glad to hear it." Danny pats his shoulder before releasing him. "Now rewrap the damn blender."

"Congratulations, sugarplum." Aunt Alicia looks as though she's not entirely sure she means it, but she does remember what it was like to be young and foolish in love. As baffling as her sister's family is, she wants them to be happy, whatever that means for them.

Tyler is actually wearing a formal suit and dress shirt on the beach for this. Well, technically it's an outfit that was probably captchalogued into his Alternean Troll card deck.

It's the principle of the thing! Never mind that at the first opportunity he gets, the tacky video game hawaiian shirt and swimtrunks are coming out, because they held their wedding on a beach and that is AWESOME.

"Congrats, dude." He's grinning up at Enzo and Dani, "Congrats Dani! You guys are gonna do fine."

"Thanks, man." Enzo crouches down to give Tyler a hug.

(He says nothing about having seen his older self that morning. Tyler is welcome at any age and in any world.)

Enzo has been his friend since he first came to Milliways, even through the horrible Halloween of 'ohgodNO'. Even so, it sort of feels like Tyler is watching Enzo go somewhere that he will probably never catch up to. The hug is good for easing some of that worry.

"Seriously...I'm gonna catch up to you!" He's half joking (and has no idea how true and honest he is inadvertantly being), as he breaks the hug.

Most male members of the wedding party are wearing lightweight but nice button-down shirts in mint or lavender, and white slacks. (Little Gil may have opted for the sundress, but he still matches the overall look of the thing.)

The father of the bride has somehow gotten away with wearing an eye-watering aloha shirt. At least it includes green and purple?

Autor has been fulfilling his duties as an usher, seating people of all stripes--human, sprite-turned-into-human, and others. He's quite somber and serious, as this is a somber and serious occasion, dressed in a mint green and lavender button down. He manages a small smile for Enzo and his bride, both looking radiant and resplendent.

"Congratulations, Enzo and Dani," Autor says, offering his hand to each of them after waiting in the receiving line. It's quite a line; everyone wants to congratulate the happy couple. Autor doesn't intend to take up too much of the busy bride and groom's time, simply offer his heartfelt wishes.

At least Wulf has dressed accordingly. Even a giant wolfman ghost is more presentable in a smart shirt and slacks than in a ragged hoodie.
