The Fenton-Matrix Wedding: Earth Edition

The Earth wedding is held on a small stretch of beach in Chile, the same stretch of beach where ten years ago a sprite and a half-a shared their first kiss. The set-up is semi-formal, but not too casual. Even the ropes cordoning off the area blend in with the decorations, done up in mint green and lavender.

(There may or may not be bazookas hidden in the flower arrangements, in case of potential human or ghostly interference.)

After the ceremony comes the reception, with dancing, a luncheon featuring steak tenderloin, a crab boil, and summer squash lasagna, and swimming.

Bonnie hasn't bared all, but little Billie is toddling in the waves. They both wave to Enzo when he comes along in his trunks.

His bride, for one; it's a bit difficult to wear a two-piece bathing suit under a bridal sundress, let alone change in the middle of the reception.

Swimming is for ducks. Red is here for the food (and maybe the dancing, it is a wedding reception).

He doesn't even need a crab cracker, a quick bang with the stone fist does the job just fine.

The tux has been ditched and he's now in a loud Hawaiian shirt and board shorts, hitting all the party stops. Anyone can run into him eating, on the floor, or wading in the shallows.

Autor is also at the food tables, inhaling a plate of steak tenderloin. He's wearing a mint green and lavender button down. He offers a companionable nod to Red, and then approaches him. "Great party, huh?"

Red grins, lifting his drink in salute. "You said it."

Red is certainly having a grand time, at least.

Autor smiles back at him, though his is decidedly more shy. "Any pressed duck at the table?" he says, trying to remind Red of the joke they'd shared when they first met.

As with the first time, Red is a touch slow to get the joke, but when he does he barks a laugh.

"Nah, sticking with the seafood. How you been?"

"Been all right," Autor says, selecting a crab leg. "I'll be going to medical school soon, in America. John Hopkins. How about you?"

"I've been alright, keeping busy. Had a run-in with Mothman, what a jerk."

A nine- and seven-year-old run up and immediately attempt to climb him.

"Girls!" Red greets back, just as enthusiastically.

He lowers his stone hand to let anyone who wants to dangle from it, and is ready to reach down and pull the other up onto his shoulders.

The Right Hand of Doom makes an excellent swing. Mairi, unable to fly up in this form, accepts the boost.

“I was the codebearer in the other wedding,” Analog, now dangling upside-down, informs Red.

“I was the flower sprite,” Mairi adds. “Dad was the other best sprite. I liked your suit!”

He makes sure Mairi is settled, then lifts Analog up and down as she swings and dangles.

"Yeah? I bet you gals were great," he says, then grins smugly. "Thanks. Custom made, y'know."

Naturally it had to be.

Ana gets a good grip with her legs around the base of the Hand and lets go with her own hands.

(Somewhere, in a different universe’s underworld, the forces of evil feel deeply and inexplicably offended.)

"I'm sure I'll find somethin'." There are bound to be other occasions for him to look good.

With Ana hanging on, Red lifts his arm up high so that the girl is almost at eye level with him.

"If you had a tail I'd think you were a monkey," he teases.

Tilting his head back a little, he looks up at Mairi on his shoulders.

"So, where we going?"

Clementine likes Hellboy. He's funny and knows how to dance and cool to hang out with - so naturally she seeks him out

She's vaguely tipsy by the time she saunters up to him on the dance floor. "Having fun?"
